The subject title pretty much explains how I feel. I believe that today's country is over-produced and does not sound like country at all. We started seeing this in about 1999 or 2000 with the likes of Keith Urban, Rascal Flats, and Loan Star. I mean, do you really think Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, or Hank Jr. would sing a song about Monday Morning Mr. Mom? Not to mention that the aforementioned modern man twat artists sound like women. I miss the old drinkin and cheatin songs. Alan Jackson and George Straight were correct. Murder was committed on Music Roe! No wonder that song didn't make the top 100. It was too honest for the big Hollywood country radio stations to play. That was the last dying gasp of classic country and I hope it comes back soon! Death to man twat country! Long live ole Hank Senior and Jr., Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Ernest Tub, and Hank Thompson!
LOL Eddie. I like a lot of the new country, although you are right that it is different than the classic. I like some of the classic artists such as Don Williams, Merle Haggart, just to name a couple, but I wouldn't walk across the street to see George Jones for free. Overall, I'd say there are more new than old artists that I like.
Well put. I completely support and agree with this thread.
Over all, today's (radio) country is soulless and watered down to a point where it's just sad.
Speaking of older country though, I did recently come across a compilation released last year entitled Murder Ballads and Disaster Songs: 1913-1938. 70 blues and country songs from that time period that well...I'm sure you get the idea from the title. It's amazing, raw, haunting and definitely a must-have for any old country fans.
Hello Bisco42! You can write me off list if you'd like. I totally am interested in this collection you have.

I like the old country music myself. The new country music isn't quite as good. My grandpa, and most of my family like the clasic country music as well. It sounds good.
